Beginning her career in Financial Advice 17 years ago, Mel started as an Administration Assistant and progressed to Adviser Support with the goal of becoming a fully qualified Financial Adviser as her next step.
For Mel, her love for the industry grew from her early experiences, “I loved how much I could help people and grow those relationships. Connecting with people is one of my favourite aspects of my role and the financial advice industry.”
Increasing the female representation in this male-dominated industry has also propelled Mel to pursue a career in financial planning where she could utilise her education and experience to help others (particularly women) reach their financial goals. “Women only make up about 22% of Australian Financial Advisers. I want to both lead the charge for gender equality for the next generation of advisers and overall improve the financial literacy of Australian women.”
Mel is a high achiever, completing her Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning, working on her Bachelor of Business, and being awarded the Coastal Advice Group 2022 Rookie of the Year.
Outside of work, Mel cherishes family time with her husband and daughter and also volunteers with Gig Buddies Sydney.
